Looking for H1N1 Vaccine?
H1N1 vaccine clinic schedules
are now available for October 23, 2009 -
November 8, 2009
A Message from Jonathan E. Fielding, MD, MPH, Director of Public
Health and Health Officer (10-1-09)
Initial delivery of a small batch of FluMist nasal spray
H1N1 vaccine is expected to arrive in LA County around
October 9th-10th. This delivery will be made to some
private providers. Additional larger batches of vaccine,
the majority of which will be in injection form, are
scheduled to arrive every week throughout the fall. It
is estimated that by the end of October, doctors and
other healthcare providers who ordered H1N1 vaccine
should have received at least a portion of the doses
requested.
Public Health is not expected to begin administering
H1N1 vaccine through its clinics or vaccination sites
until later in October. Public Health’s focus will be on
residents who are uninsured and do not have a regular
healthcare provider.
Much of the H1N1 vaccine effort is dependent on
production by five different manufacturers and their
ability to deliver vaccine to providers who have ordered
it. The initial flow of vaccine delivery has started as
scheduled, however the bulk of vaccine delivery will not
occur until late October and November.
