CONSULTATIVE SERVICES

The Consultative Services (CS) unit provides technical assistance by engaging in activities that are designed to foster a greater understanding of local health department compliance policies and related state and federal codes. The Unit conducts consultative evaluations to assist retail food operations in finding compliance solutions and provides technical support in the review of food-related equipment. The Unit provides training to employees in the retail food service industry and delivers informative presentations that address issues relevant to the food industry.

CS oversees the Certified Food Handler (CFH) Program through reviews and audits of Los Angeles County (LAC)-approved CFH training providers and the issuance of LAC CFH Certificates to qualified food service workers. Additionally, the Unit reviews, approves, and issues the "Certificate of Excellence" to retail food establishments that receive three successive "A" inspection ratings with no high-risk violations or repeated moderate-risk violations.

The Unit keeps abreast with current issues and trends within the food industry by maintaining an advisory presence on various professional and business associations and committees.

For more information about CS or services provided, call (626) 430-5320 or fax at (626) 813-4833.
