The Drinking Water Program is
responsible for
regulating small water systems pursuant to State laws and
regulations.
The primary responsibility
of this program is reviewing and approving private
water wells within designated cities and unincorporated area
of the County of Los Angeles in an effort to protect
groundwater sources. Program personnel also inspect and
permit the decommissioning of monitoring wells.
The
program’s responsibilities:
- Collects water samples from small water systems to
monitor levels of bacteria, chemicals and other elements
set forth in the State Drinking Water Standards
- Processes applications and issues permits for
non-production wells;
