FLU
TOOLKIT FOR SCHOOLS
|
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Family Physicians, now recommends that all individuals 6 months of age and older, without a medical contraindication to flu vaccine, receive an influenza (flu) vaccine. Because influenza can spread easily in schools, it is especially important that school-aged children receive annual influenza vaccinations.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Immunization Program (LACIP) is promoting flu awareness by offering a suite of customizable
materials to school administrators, nurses, teachers and staff. Your school can use these to encourage parents to have their children vaccinated against the flu. The
2011-2012 Flu Toolkit for Schools includes:
- School newsletter templates (3)
- A web alert template
- An informational letter to parents
- A letter to parents announcing flu vaccination clinics
- A fact sheet for parents
- A slide presentation to be used to educate parents
about flu
- A template immunization screening and consent form
- Links to multi-language Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) and additional resources to promote flu vaccination
Materials are available for download below, in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint, and Adobe PDF formats. Spanish-language versions of some materials will also be available for your use in the future. If you have questions about the Toolkit, please contact Julia Heinzerling at
jheinzerling@ph.lacounty.gov
or 213-351-7479.
